She loves Kringle!

ImageEvery year at the holidays someone in my family makes these delightful goodies.  They are fantastic with a cup of hot chocolate or wee cup of tea, especially after an afternoon sledding, snowball fights, and snow fort building!  They require a little bit of work but it’s worth it!

Kringle Sticks


1 cup butter

2 cups sifted flour

1 cup sour cream

Cut butter into flour as for a pie crust.  Add sour cream and mix well. Chill one hour or more.  Divide pastry into four parts.  Roll each into a rectangle (6×12 inches) on a floured pastry cloth.


1/2 cup sugar

1 egg white beaten stiff

1 tsp vanilla

1 cup chopped nuts

Beat sugar into stiff egg whites.  Gradually fold in vanilla and nuts. Spoon 1/4 of the filling down the center of each strip of dough.  Fold sides into center.  Bake on ungreased  cookie sheet at 375 for 20 minutes.


1 cup powdered sugar

2 Tbsp warm milk

Blend powdered sugar and warm milk and drizzle over pastry.  Cool and cut into one inch wide diagonal strips across the pasty.
